Deliverant – Gastronomy in Times of Crisis


Background
In November 2019, Adami GmbH was founded in Eppelheim near Heidelberg to bring the digitally underserved gastronomy industry into the digital age with proprietary software solutions. Two of the owners are themselves experienced restaurateurs with over 25 years of industry expertise.
Problem
What no one had anticipated were the sudden restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, which brought not only the world but especially the entire gastronomy industry to a near standstill.
A delivery service for their own restaurant was urgently needed, but the extremely high commissions charged by established providers like Lieferando were unacceptable – especially during a crisis! Most restaurants had no online shop and no infrastructure for processing orders.

Solution
What started as a simple ordering shop for the "Gasthaus zum Goldenen Löwen" quickly evolved into a joint startup to meet the enormous demand for a solution across surrounding restaurants.
In the first 3 months, over 160 customers were acquired, all processing their orders through our platform. Our team consisted of 4 founders and employees handling sales, marketing, development, monitoring, customer support, accounting, and everything else a startup demands.
As co-founder of Deliverant, our responsibility lay primarily in the design and development of the software solution itself. The solution covered all areas and workflows for customers, partners, and employees.

Wherever necessary or helpful, a solution was created to simplify processes and effortlessly manage the growing number of customers with a small team while keeping everything under control.

Together we built the first version, which is still actively used almost unchanged to this day. Since March 2022, we are no longer involved in the further development of Deliverant and are working on a next-generation solution focused on self-ordering in the gastronomy industry.
Results
Within a very short time, a competitive solution was created that has since acquired 250+ customers and automatically processes and pays out transactions worth several million euros.
Guests were particularly pleased with the clear and modern structure of the ordering system and praised the simple and intuitive usability. Restaurant staff were also thrilled by how the software efficiently streamlined delivery operations.
Our customers were able to save up to 90% on commissions charged by delivery portals through their own ordering shop and are not only very satisfied with their solution but even proud of their own system.
Even though not as originally planned, Deliverant has contributed to advancing digitalization in the gastronomy industry and has successfully introduced an online ordering system for the first time in countless restaurants.
